Nuclear Scintigraphy
|
| Since the nuclear scintigram provides function information (what the tissue "acts" like) rather than structural information (what the tissue "looks" like), it has proven to be an extremely useful diagnostic tool, especially in the diagnosis of subtle lameness. The process, often referred to as "bone scanning", involves the use of radioactive isotopes to isolate and identify the source(s) of inflammation in the horse. |
