Vet's Complete® Thrush Eliminator & Sole Toughener is a liquid product designed to cure all cases of thrush in horses.
You will notice that there is an "oil-based" layer that sits atop a "water-based" layer.
INSTRUCTIONS for Vet's Complete Thrush Eliminator and Sole Toughener application:
1. DO NOT SHAKE THE BOTTLE prior to use.
Mixing the ingredients will not affect the product's efficacy, but shaking it can cause some of the solution to get "caught up" within the bottle cap. When the cap is removed, some of the solution might leak onto you, your clothes, etc. It won't hurt you or your things, but it will quickly soak-in and create an oily film that will last for an extended period of time.
When the dauber is removed with the cap, it will go through the various layers of solution, so that the appropriate percentage of each component will be applied.
2. DON'T FORGET TO TIGHTEN THE CAP between uses.
The bottle is relatively easy to spill. Once it's spilled, it soaks into everything very quickly.
3. APPLY A SMALL AMOUNT.
The solution is quite strong; only a light layer is necessary during each treatment.
4. DON'T WORRY ABOUT GETTING THE DAUBER DIRTY.
No bacteria or fungus will survive in the solution, so keeping the dauber tip and/or solution clean and free of debris is not critical.
5. ALLOW THE SOLUTION TO "SOAK INTO" THE TISSUE.
We recommend holding the foot up for a period of 15 seconds following application. This will allow ample time for the solution to penetrate the tissue. You will be able to observe the product "wick" along the treated areas.
6. APPLY ONCE DAILY AS NEEDED.
No more than once daily application is necessary. In most cases, the issue resolves within 5-7 days of regular treatment.
Once applied, no further care is needed. The product will cover the tissue with a water-proof film that will be impermeable to water, manure, etc.
