TILDREN: Client Instructions

ADMINISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Take one 12cc syringe and one 20-gauge 1.5” needle (pink) and connect the two securely.
2. Remove the plastic tops from one bottle of Tildren Diluent (green-top) and one bottle of Tildren Powder (blue-top).
3. Draw up the entire contents (10cc) of one bottle of Tildren Diluent (green-top) into the syringe.
4. Infuse the entire amount (10cc) of diluent into one bottle of Tildren Powder (blue-top).
5. Without removing the syringe and needle from the blue-top bottle, mix the contents thoroughly.
6. Once the contents are throroughly mixed, draw the solution into the same syringe.
7. Wipe the injection cap (attached to the catheter) with an alcohol wipe.
8. Insert the needle attached to the syringe into the top of the injection cap.
9. SLOWLY infuse the medication into the catheter at the rate of 1cc every 3-4 seconds. It should take 30-40 seconds to completely empty the syringe.
10. Once all of the solution has been administered, remove the syringe and needle from the catheter. Cap the needle to avoid injury. Discard the syringe and needle appropriately.*
11. Using one 3cc syringe with attached needle, draw up 3cc of Heparinized Saline (AEC-labeled).
12. Infuse the entire contents (3cc) of Heparinized Saline into the catheter.
13. Once all of the heparinized saline has been infused, remove the syringe and needle from the catheter cap. Cap the needle to avoid injury. The 3cc syringe and needle can be saved for later re-use.
14. Repeat STEPS 1-13 each day until 9 doses have been administered. Dr. Grisel will administer the final dose on DAY 10 and remove the catheter.
* If you do not have an approved sharps container, please save the needles for future AEC pickup.

SUPPLIES:
• ONE Box of Tildren (containing 20 bottles)
• TEN 12cc syringes
• TEN 20-gauge 1.5” needles (pink)
• THREE 3cc syringes with attached needles (pink)
• ONE Bottle of Heparinized Saline (AEC-labeled)
